Olde Westport Spice is a 30-year-old company that started in a family kitchen when owner and cook extraordinaire, Olde Bill Petersen (as he is affectionately known) begin experimenting with recipes and creating spice blends to compliment his love for cooking. It wasn’t long before the spices were available in local Kansas City retail stores and then through mail order.

What started in 1983 in this Overland Park, Kansas home kitchen, has grown into Olde Westport Spice & Trading Co., a family-owned company operated by Kansas natives Bill and Judy Petersen along with their daughter, Ann Myers and son, Jeff Petersen, who designed their labels. The company has grown throughout its almost 30-year existence into a successful wholesale and online retail spice, seasoning and dry soup retailer based on its commitment to quality, customer service and reasonable prices.

Initially, the company grew its business through personal outreach to a variety of trade shows and other community events such as State Fairs, craft shows, horse shows and more. This personal outreach developed longtime, loyal customers many of whom have shared the love for Olde Westport’s products with a second and even third generation.

In the past 10 years, the company has established a new branding on the Internet. It is Olde Westport's history, tenacity, and most importantly... quality, that have helped the company grow, provide better products, and serve customers so well that they come back for more!

Today the company sells products throughout the country and beyond. Olde Westport Spice has a manufacturing facility in Goodland, Kan., where Bill still researches and develops new recipes and dishes for future products and Olde Westport Spice cookbooks.

The company offers a wide variety of quality custom-blended spices for main meal dishes and appetizers. Products are made from the highest quality ingredients and are available for purchase online; at more than 100 food-related craft and trade shows throughout the year; and from many retail stores in the United States.

The company’s spice blends include Italian, Cajun, Taco, Fajita, Chili, Jalapeno, Beef Sauce, Salsa, Garlic and many more. The company also invented dry soup mixes that are simple and easy to make including Antonio’s Minestrone, Chipotle Black Bean, Kansas City Steak & Ale, Mesa Flats Chicken Enchilada, New Orleans Red Bean & Rice, Southwestern Tortilla, White Chili Soup and more.

The Chicken Dry Rub has a tangy black pepper flavor. It is nice to use something different and this is a great tasty seasoning for chicken, pork or even seafood!

The Steak Dry Rub also has a tangy black pepper taste and is great for meats being grilled. You can use it on any red meats and it will definitely be worth it for a great savory meal.
