Sucrets® lozenges in its trademark tin packaging first appeared on the market in 1931. Since then, more than 450 million tins have been sold.




Throughout the decades, the tin has gone through many physical transformations. Collectors and historians can chronicle the passing of time by the change in color of the tin itself or by the different look, size and color of the lettering on the package.

In the 1950s, some of the British crown jewels were even housed inside the tin while Queen Elizabeth II’s crown was being reset. The Boy Scouts created survival kits that could fit inside the tin. For many others, the tin served as a storage container for fishing hooks, coins, and sewing supplies.


In 1994, the tin container was replaced by plastic, in part to allow customers to view the lozenges through the small window in the package.
